Count the shades of green in Zelenci Natural Reserve

From Kranjska Gora, you can easily get to Podkoren village and then to Zelenci Natural Reserve, which looks like a vast ocean of emerald green trees in the heart of Sava valley. It boasts picturesque waterfalls, enchanting lakes, splendid scenery and deserves the right to be called one of the best natural reserves in Europe. Visiting this natural reserve is going to be of great interest to children by age and children deep in their soul, who still adore the beauty of nature and believe in myths and legends.

Zelenci Natural Reserve is home to interesting representatives of the Alpine flora and fauna. In particular, it is best known for large numbers of nesting birds that can be watched in their natural surroundings. Since it is located in the middle of a valley, a large part of the reserve is a swampland bordered by lakes and crystal clear brooks. Due to natural reasons, the water in the swamp and the lake is colored bluish-green, which has motivated the name Zelenci, meaning green in Slovenian. Walking around, you will get unforgettable emotions and take unique pictures.

Go for Vrsic pass and elevate your mood

When you come to Kranjska Gora, the wisest thing to do is to stay for a few days. One of them needs to be spared for Vrsic pass, the highest mountain pass in the eastern Julian Alps. Vrsic pass, by itself, is a very picturesque place between Soska and Savska valleys.

The road to Vrsic pass is a very challenging cycling route with endless winding turns. It takes some time to reach the height of 1,611 meters, so when you feel on top of the world, you should not be in a hurry. Relax and sip a cup of tea or glühwein in the Ticarjev hut, built right on top of the pass.

If you wish, you can even rent one of the smaller huts and stay for the night at Vrsic pass, overlooking the beauty of Prisank mountain and Ajdovska deklica. Vrsic pass is a campsite for everyone who is getting ready to ascend one of the nearest peaks, so you can always meet a few experienced mountain climbers here. They are most likely to head for Mala Mojstrovka and Jalovec Mountain. Families and beginning hikers opt for a very popular route to Slemenova Špica Mountain. A short side trip from Vrsic pass will also take you to Lake Jasna or the Russian Chapel, which are worth seeing.

Make a quick stop at Lake Jasna

While consuming your refreshments, ask the locals about the goat statue located in the background, and you will hear a wonderful story that makes this hidden gem even more memorable. If you have more time, try your luck at fly fishing or follow one of the nearby trails.

Pay tribute to the perished prisoners at the Russian Chapel

The road to Vrsic pass was a risky enterprise in the mountainous region, so it was commissioned to prisoners of war and took many lives to be built. The perished were buried in common graves on Vrsic and in neighboring Trenta. In memory of these deaths, captivated Russian soldiers erected an artwork, known as the Russian Chapel, which belongs to the Russian Orthodox parish in Belgrade. Made entirely of wood, it commemorates the glory of St. Vladimir and is now more than 100 years old. Inside the chapel, there is an altar, an iconostasis, chandeliers, and candlesticks.

This is a very symbolic peak, the highest of those you can climb here and the most outstanding in terms of its historical context. Mount Triglav is often dubbed as the symbol of Slovenian identity and independence. In the 1890s, it was purchased by a priest who opposed Germanization fiercely and wanted to protect the site. Triglav can be accessed from three different valleys, Krma, Vrata, and Kot. The easiest trail lies from the Vrata valley, and the most tiring one starts from the Krma valley. Ski jumping has always been developed well in Slovenia. In an exceptional surroundings of a special training facility, you will make your first steps in this unconventional sport. With as many as seven new ski jumping hills, this exploit seems more feasible. The venue is also known for its excellent skiing polygon, cross-country skiing tracks and the Planica zipline, starting on top of the most challenging ski flying hill. Undeniably believe that which you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be
on the web the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you,
I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they plainly don’t know about.
You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the
whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal.
Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
